I am a Mormon

So my church has this great website that explains every question you could pretty much ever have about our religion. It has answers with scriptures and insights and is awesome. Recently they added a new feature that allows members like me to create a profile and tell our stories. I thought I would share mine with you guys. Here is my personal story....

I'm a Mormon.

And here is the link to the basic page with all the answers....

Enjoy!

Be Still My Soul

I usually do not do two post in one day but today I really wanted to share this song. While getting ready for church this morning I put Pandora onto my usual Sunday channel. This week has been rather hard one for me, for some reason I have just been super hard on myself. It has just been one of those weeks where everything just seems right out of reach. Much like I have no control of the things that are happening to me. I was looking at my friends and even people I have never met and just thinking how much better they are living their lives. They have more money or know how to budget it better, have accomplished more, are serving people, are done with school, dress nicer, truthfully the list could go on and on. The internet makes it so easy to play the comparison game. It is so easy to forget  that each one of these people are struggling with something. The internet allows us to put our best face forward, so what ends up happening is we are comparing our worst with everyone else's best. We need to remember that Heavenly Father is not comparing us to our peers. He does not look at you on your worst day and give up on you. He wants us to keep going, growing and trying. Now with that said, I know all this and I constantly, with the help of my husband, am running it through my head but it just was not sticking this week. This morning I knew I needed Heavenly Fathers help and it came through this song. It was so sweet and simple and as I listened to the music I thought of the words and all my worries faded away.

Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side;
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev'ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav'nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2. Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

3. Be still, my soul: The hour is hast'ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.Be still,
my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Weekend Review

   We had a lazy kind of weekend here. Our days were filled mostly with naps, ice cream and the Olympics. On Friday we went to our good friends house for the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. If you ever want to feel really fat... Watch the top athletes in the world while scarfing down your own carton of Half Baked... It really was a fun night though despite each of us all eating our own carton of ice cream. I can tell you one thing though I am so grateful to live in this country after hearing about all the horrible thing going on around the world. I thought I was a little more informed about the worlds news but turns out there are at least 12 countries I had never heard of with terrible things happening in them.

    We were going to venture out to the yard to work on our patio but turns out we have a sprinkler right smack dab in the middle of the area. So our patio plans will be slightly postponed until we can move the sprinkler. We did actually get out with some friends Saturday night for a fun triple date. In April my best friend from Kindergarten and First grade was hired at The Kids Place. It was such a great throwback! I feel like we picked off right where we left off ( literally cause we still act like we are in elementary school) it has been so great working with her every day and we finally got to venture out into the real world with our men for a little glow-in-the-dark putt putt.  For some reason Brittany was blurry in every picture we tried to take...  I think she was just so excited to be there :)

Home Improvements

This past couple of days have flown by! We have been working hard on our lovely condo. Now I am sure when I say that you might think something like ... Oh they must have just moved in to a new place.. Well sadly no. I am just a slacker. We have been in our humble abode since February and I have completed a few projects but  nothing too serious. This week we and by we I mostly mean Jon has worked very hard on our soon to be patio!  Our amazing Landlords are letting have our way with the condo so hopefully soon it will be a nice place to look at. From inside and out. Here are some pictures of our progress, when we are all done I will posted the finished product. Maybe, if I get all my little side projects done, I will post some pictures of our place. Until then here ya go.

Weekend Review

 This weekend has gone by all too fast, but what weekend doesn't. We spent this weekend catching up with some old friends. We spent Saturday with my good friend Tahna. She has been here for the past month working her butt off at Disney and we finally got to see her two days before she heads back to Provo. We had such a good time with her. Seriously one of the sweetest people I know. We spent the day pool hopping  at Disney Coronado Springs This is seriously the best pool around it has an slide and tons of room to play and a giant hot tub.  I mean just look at it... dont you WANT to be here right now?
After hours of catching up in the sun we headed to Downtown Disney to kill some time before Tahna had to go to work. She showed us around her old stomping ground (she works at a few of the stores in DTD). and she even bought us an icy from Candy Calderon. We stopped by the new Harley store and took a few silly pictures. Jon was nice enough to join in on the fun.  Then it was time to say good bye. Seeing Tahna made me miss Utah even more than I usually do so many of our good friends are there right now and so few are here, but at least we give everyone a great place to visit.

On Sunday we got up and got ready for church only to end up not going. Jon had checked in on Facebook to Downtown Disney the night before and it turns out one of his favorite families from his mission was visiting. So we changed our clothes and headed back to Orlando for the day. Jon was like a little kid, so excited to see this family. I had heard so much about them I was pretty excited too. On the way there Jon warns me in these words...

Jon: Now Richard got in a bad accident and has scars on his face so don't stare.
Me: Oh really are they that bad? And I really don't think I would...
Jon: Yeah but they are bad he was in the Navy and I think that's how they got them

So we get there and they get out of their car with their 4 adorable kids and there is not a thing wrong with Richard,at all. I did not even give it a second thought until half way through lunch... turns out that Jon had just made the whole thing up to see how I would react. I never knew he was such a good liar... haha Oh how he picks on me!! Besides me looking really silly the lunch was great. We got to catch up and meet their kids ( they have two more since they last saw Jon) and even made plans to go visit them in Septtember to do this race.... http://www.colormerad.com/about.html

Over all it was a great weekend and I am so sad it is over. But there is always next weekend to look forward too.

Good Things to Come

“Don't you quit. You keep walking, you keep trying, there is help and happiness ahead. Some blessings come soon. Some come late. Some don't come until heaven. But for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come. It will be alright in the end. Trust God and believe in Good Things to Come.”

                                                          Jeffery R Holland

Last night we made dinner for the Missionaries and my Mom. After dinner they shared a Mormon Message with us. It is such a great video. It got me thinking about all the trails Heavenly Father throws at us. Being newly married, Jon and I have our fair share of trails. School, work, bills, our future... at times seems to be too much to handle but when I take a step back and look at all we have been blessed with and all we have to look forward to I am grateful for the momentary trials that teach me.This life is but a small moment good things will come.

Workout Wednesday

Ok if you know me you know that working out has NEVER been a strong point. I used to run a bit but I hurt my knee so that stopped. My weight has never really been an issue but since I have gotten married it seems the pounds just keep pilling on. Maybe it is the age or maybe it is the man, who is to say but I now jiggle where once was firm. Now I can tell you this right now I like to eat... no that is an under statement actually I LOVE it. I eat when I am happy, sad, tired, mad... Name a random time of the day and I most likely a eating then so lets just say dieting is out of the question. With a little luck and help from some friends I have found a few things that I have fallen in love with.

1. Nike Trainer - It is my favorite app on my phone right now. It give you already made work outs with videos and tracks your progress. It also gives you rewards for times you worked out. Which keeps me interested. It also has different levels that you can work up towards (beginner, for fools like me who NEVER work out, intermediate, and hard)

2. Zumba- My good friend at work teaches an AWESOME Zumba class on Mondays and Thursdays. I look ridiculous but I am sore all over after so at least it is doing some good.  Dancing the fat away is always a good solution.
3. Nike Running Club- Another Nike App winner. This app is fabulous for my slow uphill battle with running. It tracks how far you run, how fast and even shows you when you slow down and speed up. It also tells you how you have improved. If you are big on sharing your times you can link it to your face book and when people like it the app will cheer you on during your run... not my thing... no one needs to know how slow I run my mile but cool none the less.

4.NEW SHOES- pretty much the best part of my workouts. Who doesn't love new shoes and its a great motivator to actually work out.
