Love it Now!

This Sunday I went to church with such a bad attitude. Jon had to work, the time change kicked my butt and my hair was just not playing nice. All I could think about was the future, when I'm done with school, when Jon will have a job that won't take up our weekends, when we have little nuggets to love.... Our speaker must have been reading my mind cause all she spoke about was being happy NOW!

It has been a really long time since I have taken that many notes in church. It really got me thinking. It is so important to find joy in this journey. We can spend our whole lives wishing for the future or pineing for the past but in the end all we will have accomplished? To really get the most out of our time on earth we have to live in the moment and love it. This is not to say that it is wrong to plan for the future or reflect on the past it is just not right to dwell on it. That idea really hit home for me becasue I spend A LOT of time dreaming about "What it will be like when...." It is our job to use our time wisely... growing our talents, loving others and serving them NOT to become so entangled in what could have, should have or would have been.

Happiness in one of the things God expects from us.

This was another quote I will always remember. I spend so much time thinking about all of the things I am suppose to do that I forget that the whole point of this life is to be happy. Heavenly Father made us, he loves us and he wants us to be happy. He will not give us ANYTING that we can not handle, though at times we may wish he didn't think so highly of us, we can get through our trials and do so happily. It really got me thinking about taking a step back and RELAXING. Jon tells me to relax ALL the time. I am seriously a huge ball of stress 90% of my life. So I am making a goal to relax, take a breath and ENJOY this ride. It is my last semster of college, I will never be here again and I should be happy for the expereince instead of dragging my feet (although I still think it is ok to continure the count down.... 53 days to be exact).

Back by Popular Demand

So maybe not popular demand but Kate said she was missing my posts so for her I shall once again write. I was having quite the bout of  writers block. To tell you the truth I was also having a case of who the heck cares about what I have to says...  So maybe that's not what its called but I cant think of any other way to put it. I was having a pity party ALAS I am back and I don't care if you like what I have to say or not I'm going to say it or well write it I guess.  Anyways I will catch ya up on this past week/weekend.

Last week was filled with HOMEWORK and well more HOMEWORK. It was probably the biggest factor in my absences. Although Thursday we did find the time to make dinner  and watch Avengers with my Sister and Future Brother-in-law. We saw it in the theaters but Jon just HAD to own it so we bought it. It was way better the second time mostly because I didn't fall asleep (we went to the midnight showing the first time and I had been up since 6 the first time).
Friday night we bummed around (we tend to do this A LOT) it was Jon's last day of work at ServePro so we celebrated by eating tons of sweets and being lazy (we also do this a lot too)
Saturday we woke up with big plans and ended doing pretty much nothing all day but looking through old pictures and cleaning. I know...We are party animals. I actually went outside to let the dog out and came back into a missing husband. I just assumed that he was in the bathroom well 5 mins went by then 10 and I went looking for him... he was not in the bathroom... or the bedroom... or the guest bathroom... So where was he you ask? Welp I found him in the guest bedroom like this.... Looking at pictures... this is normal right?

The Relief Society General Broadcast was that night so I got some girl time in and was able to listen to some seriously inspired talks. If you didn't get to watch it you can go here... It seriously was great something for every woman. It was a much needed recharge and spiritual uplift.
Sunday we went to church and then spent some time with our good friends Beck and Eric. They made us the most delicious ribs. We ate no bake cookies and talked for hours.
That was our weekend in a nutshell If you made it all the way through congrats.

There is a War in my Brain

Alright Yall Im gonna get serious for a minuet here... hate to do it to you but it needs to be done!  I spend way too much time on Pinterest... Like for real I am addicted and usually I am finding things like this...
 Or this

Some times even this
BUT 4 nights ago I read this article  and it hasn't left my mind. Every now and then I use Pinterest for good. It talks about how today Satan's war is in our brains. We I constantly need stimulation and it has become a habit to just pick up the phone and get online. So much so that it is craved and almost needed. Our favorite blogs, websites, social media take up so much space in our brains daily that more important things loose their place. it is MY job to make my brain crave more spiritual and deep thoughts. To make an effort to study Gods words and ponder their meaning in my life. If I do not take the time to do this now HOW will I find time to do it when I have children? I want my kids to know how important it is to live the gospel of Christ. Now don't get me wrong, the internet machine is a wonderful thing I love me so blog time and can't get enough of Pinterest but it is important to incorporate other forms of GOOD into my day.  IN FACT.. I am making it a goal... I want to have the Book of Mormon read by December 31, 2012 ( putting on the blog holds my accountable right?)  Alright I  am done with all this seriousness adn I am linking up with this lady here and here

Weekend Review: The Most Boring Weekend...

The weekend was seriously a bore... It was kind of nice though. My allergies have been acting up... WAY UP like cant sleep well, bloody noses, headaches and a million sneezes acting up. It's the worse cause I can not take most allergy medicines. ANYWAYS this post wont be full of complaints. I PROMISE you that's it. Friday I was spoiled. My visiting teachers came over and gave me lots of treats (my house was clean this time thank you!), then at work I was given even more treats.
And this is after Jon got into them if you notice half the cake is gone and
quite a few cookies and rolls are gone too.... ( I may have helped a bit)
We went to Applebee's for my favorite queso dip and it just so happens that my sister was working that night. Her and her Fiance both work there as servers and were on duty which explains why they were not answering our plees of friendship. When they got off we went to their house to watch a movie. Super fun but bad choice for my sneezing nose. They have 3 dogs who love attention and apparently I am quite allergic to them. One roll of toilet paper later the movie, 30 Minuets or Less was over and actually pretty good.
Saturday was spent lounging around. We have started watching DR. Who on Netflix and it pretty much consumes our free time now... For those of you who don't know what DR. Who is... Look it up British T.V. show and it is quite entertaining. We did decide to venture out into the real world and take advantage of the nice weather... AKA not 100 Degrees outside. We took Ruca to the Dog park finally and it was worth it... LOOK at this Sunset...

Sunday Was spent at church teaching my little ones, well little one. This week I only had one little nugget, and let me tell you it was NOT easy. This little man is ALL boy he loves to talk, hates to listen and can't sit still for the life of him. I use pictures a lot in my lessons and he kept saying "put that away, DON'T use those, I hate those" Seriously! So after going through everything I had we still had 45 minuets left... UHHHH So we went on a walk and I made a game up thinking that should take a big chunk of the time up... NOPE  When we got back there was still 30 minuets left. So I did what any good teacher does and I called for my Hubby. Jon is so adorable with little ones, especially crazy boys. That crazy little nugg just sat there staring at Jon until he finally walked over grabbed the chocolate I had been bribing  giving him and handed it to Jon. That was it, it was love.

I just have to share one quote from this silly little boys ramblings.... While talking about something COMPLETELY  unrelated he interrupts...

"When I grow up I'll be a HUMAN!" He was seriously so excited about this I just had to let him know that he is in fact a human right now, in which his reply was " Not a real Human. I'm just a small human But Ill be a BIG Human when I grow up"

So there you have it my oh so boring weekend that I some how managed to write a giant post about... Congrats if you made it through :)

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Today was just a great Sunday. We changed how we are teaching Sunday school and it has just made Primary an all around better experience. I may have explained this before but if  not I will again. I teach the sunbeams...otherwise know as the 3 year old's. I think this is the calling that each newly married couple is required to hold.... like a right of passage into married life as a LDS couple... But really though I am going through the list of all of our married friends and they all have callings in Primary or nursery...
Maybe it is to show all us newly married peeps that we just NEED to have little nuggets of our own. Personal I think this would have an adverse affect on most.
Other peoples kids are so bad sometimes especially when you through them in a room with some fresh faced newly wed. Luckily I am now fresh faced newly wed (ok maybe I am) but I have done my time in the class room... teaching kindergarten and first grade at an after care for 4 years and I wont lie when I was 18 I had the primary class from... um... whats a nice way to put this... the primary class that seemed to exemplify what highlight real of Nanny911 might look like,
but that is a whole different post.
This post is about how stinkin' cute my 3 year old's right now are.
Our lesson today was on Friendship. Wanna hear something cute ask a 3 year old how they know that Jesus is their friend. Best thing I have heard all week. Until I heard this...
This is my screen saver on my phone...
AWWW so sweet and tender right? Not thorugh the eyes of a 3 years old. She go my phone and was like "THAT'S GROSS hes kissing you on your wedding!"
All I could do was laugh. I asked her "Haven't you seen any pictures of your parents kissing on their wedding day?"
She answers...
NO!! Thats sick... Oh wait... One time I walked in to my Mommy's room and saw it... They were kissing on the picture and I was like...

THAT'S DISGUSTING!
She made that face and I laughed so hard I made her do it again... Of course she was happy to do it. I am in love with my class :) So there you go kissing disgusting... but of course she wanted to look at the picture 12 times through out the lesson.
Oh and if you ever want a lesson in what parents are teaching there kids at home just ask them what one of the 10 commandments are...
Here are the 10 commandments according to Cocoa Wards Jr Primary
1. Don't shoot things for fun- This ended up in a 5 minuet conversation about when it is OK to shoot things...
2. Keep the Sunday Holy
3. Jesus healed Moses with mud on his eyes..
4. Don't say Gods name when you are being evil
5. Don't hit your brother
6. Invite your friends to church
(but my only friend who liked church
moved to South Carolina and that's to far to come to church)
7. UHHHH Jesus!!!
8. The temple... Moses built it...
9. Don't worship golden cows, TV or being pretty.
10. Dont kiss

A Messy House is a Happy Home

Or at least that is what I keep telling my self! Yesterday, my home was the epitome of messy. We had dishes in the sink and stuff thrown every which way and I was NOT in a cleaning mood. I came home from my EARLY morning shift at work and planed to spend some quality time with my computer. And that is what I did until there was an unexpected knock at the door.

I looked at the time and thats when I remember! That knock at the door was not so unexpected. I had made plans last Sunday for my visiting teachers to come see me. Now if you don't know what a visiting teacher is Ill give you a quick little explanation. Visit teaching is a great program that my church has created to make sure all families and women, specifically are taken care of. All women are assigned to visit teach a few sisters and each sisiter has someone to come visit you. It helps to promote friendship and Christ like love. It really is a great program. I love it... most months... when my house is clean.

The whole time they were here I felt like I had to apologize for my horrible job as a wife. I felt like my messy house showed them that I was failing at my job. They both comforted me with all the polite things you say when you walk into a dirty house... "Oh I have seen Worse" or "Its really not that bad!"  But I just knew they were thinking GOSH what slobs!

After they left I began to think about why I am so quick to put my self down. I know when I walk into a messy house I am NOT thinking oh what a horrible wife or family this must be. But that is right where my mind goes when it involves me.We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father and I can guarantee that he is not thinking "YOU are failing at life because your house is not super sparkly". That is probably not even close to something he would say.. EVER.  Some times I need to step aside and think about all the things I do right and STOP dwelling on the things I am not the best at.  I am going to challenge my self this week to dwell on the good. I think we can all benefit  from doing this.
I think the most loved places look a little lived in.

I am a Mormon

So my church has this great website that explains every question you could pretty much ever have about our religion. It has answers with scriptures and insights and is awesome. Recently they added a new feature that allows members like me to create a profile and tell our stories. I thought I would share mine with you guys. Here is my personal story....

I'm a Mormon.

And here is the link to the basic page with all the answers....

Enjoy!

Be Still My Soul

I usually do not do two post in one day but today I really wanted to share this song. While getting ready for church this morning I put Pandora onto my usual Sunday channel. This week has been rather hard one for me, for some reason I have just been super hard on myself. It has just been one of those weeks where everything just seems right out of reach. Much like I have no control of the things that are happening to me. I was looking at my friends and even people I have never met and just thinking how much better they are living their lives. They have more money or know how to budget it better, have accomplished more, are serving people, are done with school, dress nicer, truthfully the list could go on and on. The internet makes it so easy to play the comparison game. It is so easy to forget  that each one of these people are struggling with something. The internet allows us to put our best face forward, so what ends up happening is we are comparing our worst with everyone else's best. We need to remember that Heavenly Father is not comparing us to our peers. He does not look at you on your worst day and give up on you. He wants us to keep going, growing and trying. Now with that said, I know all this and I constantly, with the help of my husband, am running it through my head but it just was not sticking this week. This morning I knew I needed Heavenly Fathers help and it came through this song. It was so sweet and simple and as I listened to the music I thought of the words and all my worries faded away.

Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side;
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev'ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav'nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2. Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

3. Be still, my soul: The hour is hast'ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.Be still,
my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Good Things to Come

“Don't you quit. You keep walking, you keep trying, there is help and happiness ahead. Some blessings come soon. Some come late. Some don't come until heaven. But for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come. It will be alright in the end. Trust God and believe in Good Things to Come.”

                                                          Jeffery R Holland

Last night we made dinner for the Missionaries and my Mom. After dinner they shared a Mormon Message with us. It is such a great video. It got me thinking about all the trails Heavenly Father throws at us. Being newly married, Jon and I have our fair share of trails. School, work, bills, our future... at times seems to be too much to handle but when I take a step back and look at all we have been blessed with and all we have to look forward to I am grateful for the momentary trials that teach me.This life is but a small moment good things will come.
